As part of efforts to enhance security in the East African region, Ethiopia has recently signed an agreement to host the headquarters of Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF).
The agreement was signed between State Minister for Foreign Affairs Taye Atsekesilasse and Eastern Africa Standby Force Director Ambassador Chanfi Issmail.
After the signing of the agreement, Spokesperson for Ministry of Foreign Affairs Tewolde Mulugeta told journalists Ethiopia has been working tirelessly for the establishment of the standby force.
The host agreement signed between the two parties will support the enhancement of collective security in the region and international peace, he added.
According to him, Ethiopia has been contributing a lot in the highly volatile region. It has been involved in many peace keeping tasks and missions.
The agreement to host EASF is part of this lofty mission, the spokesperson pointed out.
Director of the Eastern Africa Standby Force Chanfi Issmail has reportedly said on his part Ethiopia has been committed and determined to support EASF starting from its establishment.
Established in July 2004, the Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) has been contributing to African peace and security.
