The governor of Niger state Abubakar Bello recently visited some areas in suleja and lapai that were affected by the storm.

He paid condolence visits to some victims who lost members of their families in the storm.

On seeing the devastating state of the survivors, he approved 30 million naira to the state Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA) to make available relief materials to survivors of Suleja flood.

The governor has also promised that the bridge in Lapai Local Government Area linking the state to Kogi state which collapsed due to the flood will be constructed in 40 days by the state Road Maintenance Agency (NIGROMA). However, a manageable route is going to be constructed pending the construction of the bridge.

He called the attention of residents in Niger state to cooperate with the urban development to ensure the safety of lives and property.

“It is glaring that most of the affected structures were on the natural flood path. We have to desist from these unwholesome practices and obey simple laws meant for our good,” the governor said.
