ZIMBABWE: AFRICANS REACT TO MUGABE’S EXIT

Yesterday as the news of president Robert Mugabe’s resignation filtered in, Zimbabweans took to the street to celebrate the exit of Mugabe after 37 years stay at the helm of Zimbabwe’s government.

Three weeks ago, President Mugabe sacked his deputy Emerson Mnangagwa who had been in a power tussle with President Mugabe’s heir apparent and wife, Grace Mugabe.

Last week, the Zimbabwean Army announced on the state-owned broadcasting corporation what it called moves to pacify a degenerating political, social and economic situation in our country, which if not addressed may result in violent conflict.

On Twitter, reactions trailed the processes, from the military take over to the resignation of President Mugabe;
