His Excellency Bihi Iman Egeh, Minister of Finance of the Federal Republic of Somalia, has been awarded the coveted African Finance Minister of the Year title at the 15th African Business Leadership Awards (ABLA) 2025, held during the ALM Africa Summit London.

This prestigious honour recognises Minister Egeh’s exemplary leadership in driving Somalia’s fiscal reform agenda, strengthening public financial management, and promoting transparency and economic resilience in one of Africa’s most complex policy environments. His stewardship has been central to restoring confidence in Somalia’s economic governance and laying the groundwork for inclusive and sustainable growth.

Under his leadership, the Ministry of Finance has undertaken critical reforms, including improved domestic revenue mobilisation, enhanced budget discipline, digitisation of public financial systems, and closer engagement with international financial institutions. These efforts have helped position Somalia on a path toward debt relief, macroeconomic stability, and renewed investor interest.

Minister Egeh’s recognition reflects a broader narrative of national recovery and transformation, driven by accountable governance and homegrown economic solutions. His work is widely seen as a cornerstone of Somalia’s journey toward financial self-reliance and institutional strengthening.

In his acceptance speech, Minister Egeh reaffirmed Somalia’s commitment to regional cooperation, economic inclusivity, and fiscal discipline, highlighting the role of strong institutions in building a resilient future for the Somali people.
