London, United Kingdom – July 10, 2025
The African continent proudly celebrated one of its finest financial minds as Mr. Admassu Tadesse, Group President and Managing Director of the Trade and Development Bank Group (TDB Group), was conferred with the Africa Banking Leadership Excellence Award at the recently concluded Africa Summit and Business Leadership Awards. The prestigious event took place on 9th and 10th July 2025 at The Landmark London Hotel and the historic UK House of Lords, drawing a distinguished audience from across continents.
Adding to this milestone, Mr. Tadesse was also decorated with a Special Congressional Commendation from the U.S. State of South Carolina—a powerful recognition of his global leadership and lifelong dedication to Africa’s development through strategic finance and regional cooperation.
The event, hosted by the African Leadership Organisation (ALO), brought together a formidable lineup of global leaders, including H.E. Jakaya Kikwete, former President of Tanzania and Chair of the ALO Global Advisory Board; Dr. Ken Giami, Founder and CEO of ALO; as well as serving ministers, state governors, influential business and political leaders, and members of the international academic community.
As one of the keynote speakers, Mr. Tadesse delivered an insightful address inspired by the summit’s theme: “Accelerating Africa’s Development: Strategic Finance, Regional Integration, and Investment Leadership.” While he brought his own perspective and approach to the subject, the clarity of thought and depth of experience he shared underscored his reputation as one of Africa’s foremost champions of transformational finance.
This dual honour recognition on both African and U.S. platforms speaks volumes about Mr. Tadesse’s pioneering role at the helm of TDB Group, where he has led bold expansion efforts, grown assets exponentially, and deepened the bank’s relevance in catalyzing sustainable development across the continent.
For TDB Group, this recognition reaffirms its status as a continental force for good—leveraging finance to power infrastructure, support regional integration, and unlock opportunities in frontier and emerging economies. For Ethiopia and Africa at large, it signals the continent’s growing influence in shaping the future of global finance and development from within.
