Dr John Panonetsa Mangudya, Chief Executive Officer of Zimbabwe’s Mutapa Investment Fund, will deliver a special presentation on sovereign wealth and strategic investment at the 2026 International Forum on African-Caribbean Leadership (IFAL), to be held on 24 September at the Marriott Marquis, Broadway, New York, during United Nations General Assembly week. His address, on the theme “Sovereign Wealth, Strategic Investments and the Global African Alliance: Building Resilient Economies for Future Generations,” forms part of the forum’s opening plenary.

Dr Mangudya assumed his role at the Mutapa Investment Fund, Zimbabwe’s sovereign wealth fund, in May 2024, following a decade as Governor of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe. His career spans central banking, commercial banking, and international banking and investment, including senior positions at the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe, Afreximbank and CBZ Bank. He has also served on the boards of several major African institutions.
Dr Mangudya’s presentation follows a special address by H.E. Ahunna Eziakonwa, UN Under-Secretary-General and Special Adviser on Africa, and precedes keynote remarks from Mr Admassu Tadesse, Group President and Managing Director of the Trade and Development Bank Group.
IFAL is a flagship event of the African Leadership Magazine, convened annually on the margins of the United Nations General Assembly. The forum brings together heads of state, policymakers, investors and private-sector leaders from Africa and the Caribbean to strengthen trans-regional cooperation, trade and investment.
