African Leaders Attend 72nd UNGA in New York

African leaders journey to New York to attend the 72nd United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) which kicks off on Tuesday September 19, 2017.

UNGA which was instituted since 1946, is the biggest annual gathering of world leaders ‘to tackle humanity’s greatest challenges. 193 countries will have their leaders or representatives giving addresses.

Attending are The Cameroonian president, Pul Biya, President Adama Barrow of Gambia, Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari, Cameroonian president, Pul Biya, Congo Republic’s Denis Sassou Nguesso, President of Malawi, Peter Mutharika, Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, among others.

It is the first UNGA for Secretary-General Antonio Guterres who took over last year from Ban Ki-Moon. Ki-moon stepped down after serving two five-year terms.
