Angolan President, Joao Lourenco has pledged to reform poorly run state assets and fight corruption after investigating wealthy and powerful members of the Dos Santos family.

He also said he would create jobs for the country’s disenfranchised and largely unemployed youth.

He added that the MPLA would “guarantee peace, stability, economic and social development that will benefit all Angolans.

The president who was draped in black and red of the country’s flag made these promises while he was sworn in for his second term in office.

In his words, “We will work on policies and good practices to incentivize and promote the private sector of the economy to create more jobs for Angolans but, especially for young people”.

“The most disputed elections of the history of the young Angola democracy but had nonetheless contributed to the strengthening of our democracy”.
