The Honourable Philip Edward Davis KC, MP, Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, has been honoured with the Distinguished Leadership Award for Climate Resilience and Sustainable Development at the 2026 International Forum on African-Caribbean Leadership (IFAL), held on 24 September at the Marriott Marquis, Broadway, New York, during United Nations General Assembly week. The recognition was conferred during the forum’s Recognitions & Awards presentation, hosted by African Leadership Magazine.

The award recognises Prime Minister Davis’s advocacy for Small Island Developing States on climate change and his government’s sustainable development initiatives.
Mr Davis was sworn in as the fifth Prime Minister of the Bahamas in September 2021, having previously served as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Works and Urban Development from 2012 to 2017, and as Member of Parliament for Cat Island, Rum Cay and San Salvador since 2002. A leading litigation lawyer and King’s Counsel, he chaired the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) in 2023. As Prime Minister, he has become a prominent voice for Small Island Developing States on climate change, and has led initiatives including the Bahamas’ White Paper on the Future of Digital Assets and the groundwork for a national carbon credits exchange.
IFAL is a flagship event of the African Leadership Magazine, convened annually on the margins of the United Nations General Assembly. The forum brings together heads of state, policymakers, investors and private-sector leaders from Africa and the Caribbean to strengthen trans-regional cooperation, trade and investment.
