Ms Chi Achebe, Founder and Managing Partner of Achebe Capital, has been named to the Top 40 African Diaspora Leaders List at the 2026 International Forum on African-Caribbean Leadership (IFAL), held on 24 September at the Marriott Marquis, Broadway, New York, during United Nations General Assembly week. The recognition was conferred during the forum’s Recognitions & Awards presentation, hosted by African Leadership Magazine.

The listing recognises Ms Achebe’s role in channelling venture capital toward Africa and the African diaspora, and her broader contribution to diaspora-led investment.
Ms Achebe founded Achebe Capital, a seed-stage venture capital fund investing across Africa, the African diaspora and New Americans, with backing from Melinda French Gates among other investors. Her portfolio includes early investment in companies such as Flutterwave and Brex. Before founding Achebe Capital, she led go-to-market strategy at Google, worked on venture fund performance tracking at Citi, founded a health-technology start-up in South Africa, and helped build the Anzisha Prize, a pan-African entrepreneurship accelerator backed by the MasterCard Foundation and the African Leadership Group. She holds a degree from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from Columbia Business School.
IFAL is a flagship event of the African Leadership Magazine, convened annually on the margins of the United Nations General Assembly. The forum brings together heads of state, policymakers, investors and private-sector leaders from Africa and the Caribbean to strengthen trans-regional cooperation, trade and investment.
