CHINA OFFERS USD 296,330 TO SUPPORT AFRICAN UNION COMMISSION

The Government of the People’s Republic of China granted worth CHY 2,000,000 or USD 296,330 to support the work activities of the Office of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC).

This cheque was presented by H.E. HU Changchun, Ambassador Extraordinary, and Plenipotentiary, Head of the Mission of the People’s Republic of China to the AU, to Prof. Mohamed El Hacen Lebatt, Chief of Staff of the Chairperson of the AU Commission.

The ceremony was also marked by the delivery of two messages from H.E. Xi Jinping, President of the People’s Republic of China. One was addressed to HE Moussa Faki Mahamat as a congratulatory message for the upcoming AU Summit, and the other to HE Macky Sall, President of the Republic of Senegal to reiterate China’s full support for the AU’s candidacy as a member of the G20.

The Chief of Staff of the Chairperson of the AU Commission expressed on behalf of HE Moussa Faki, gratitude for this gesture towards the Cabinet and he specified that this donation of great value will be used wisely, according to the rules of the AU Commission. Ambassador HU Changchun welcomed the meeting and hoped that the friendly feelings and solidarity between China and the African Union will always last.

This donation is coming after the envoy of the United States toured some African nations seemingly seeking support from the nations and the continent with regard to what is happening in Ukraine.

China has never hidden its support for Africa to be included in the United Nations Security Council.

The partnership between Africa and China keeps growing by the day as expressed in this new donation for the running of the continent’s Unions office.
