Despite the wide spread of cholera in the Democratic Republic of Congo, current statistics reveal that the number of those who are not affected by the epidemic is far more than those whose lives have been lost as a result of the plague.

Cholera has claimed about 500 lives in the country.

Based on poor sanitation and limited availability of portable water, the outbreak of cholera has become a natural occurrence in DRC. it is, however, surprising that the number of persons who are not affected by the plague is incredibly higher than those that have been lost.

In a bid to curb the epidemic, the World Health Organization has sent a number of experts, including epidemiologists and public health specialists to tackle the issue of cholera in Congo.
