Ghana Book Trust Set for Young Adult Literary Contest

The Ghana book trust (GBT) is set to organize the 2017 Canadian Organization for Development through Education (CODE) edition from July 24 to 26 in Accra Ghana. This will be sponsored by CODE and William (Bill) Burt and the Literary Prizes Foundation.

The award’s objective is to empower young African between the ages of 12 to 18, providing them access to high quality, culturally relevant reading materials. And to create development to young adult literature that will motivate reading among youths. The program also seeks to promote the desire and attraction for reading and learning, enhance the English Language skills in the youths, develop local book publishing industries and increase the stock of English books in schools and libraries.

According to Mrs. Genevieve Eba-Polley, the Executive Director of GBT, the valid requirements for all eligible publishers include submission of entries to CODE’s local implementing partners in each participating country including GBT; CODE-Ethiopia; National Book Development Council of Kenya; and Children’s Book Project for Tanzania.

Of a shortlist of five titles selected, the jury will declare one winner. The winner is entitled to a prize of $1,000 Canadian dollars and many other prizes.

The GTB hopes for a successful result of the event and a desired impact on the youths.
