Kenya: Opposition Leader Withdraws From Presidential Election Re-run

Kenya’s opposition leader Ralia Odinga has withdrawn from contesting in the re-run of August’s presidential election scheduled by the court to hold Oct. 26 on the claims that the election will still not be fair.

Odinga further stated as part of his reason for withdrawing from the re-run election, that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), did not replace some officials, who he blamed for irregularities in the August poll.

President Uhuru Kenyatta said that the re-run election will take place despite the withdrawal of his opponent
