Nigeria: D’Tigress Basketball Team Receives Presidential Honour

Nigeria’s senior women basketball team, D’Tigress which recently defeated Senegal for the 3rd time in the just concluded basketball competition held in Bamako, Mali payed a visit to the President on Wednesday who expressed his satisfaction in the team by giving each player a sum of 1 million each and the officials N500,000 each after which he urged the team to remain focused on the game.

“You should work towards winning the forthcoming 2018 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup in Spain,’’ he said.

The team, as a result of their victory over Senegal also qualified for the 2018 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup in Spain.

Solomon Dalung, Minister of Sports attributed the team’s victory to the “silent reforms’’ put in place by his ministry. He added that the ministry is determined to restore the glory of the basketball sports.
