Ing. Dr. Clifford A. Braimah Gets African Public Service Leadership Award at ALM POTY 2024

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, March 18, 2024  – Ing. Dr. Clifford A. Braimah, the esteemed Managing Director of Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL), has been honoured with the African Public Service Leadership Commendation Award at the esteemed 12th African Persons of the Year Ceremony, hosted by African Leadership Magazine (ALM) at the Ethiopian Skylight Hotel in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on March 15, 2024. With a career spanning decades, Dr. Braimah’s exceptional dedication and expertise in water management have been highlighted, having previously served as the Dean of the School of Engineering at Tamale Polytechnic.

His notable projects include the performance audit of the Savelugu Water System and innovative training programmes for water supply operators. As a distinguished member of the Ghana Institution of Engineers and the International Water Association, Dr. Braimah’s contributions extend to scholarly pursuits, with numerous peer-reviewed articles under his belt. His academic background includes a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering and a Master of Science Degree in Environmental Resources Management from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, alongside a Doctor of Philosophy in Water Management from Cranfield University in the UK, solidifying his expertise in the field.

The ALM Persons of the Year (POTY) is a flagship annual event of the African Leadership Magazine, bringing together policymakers, private sector leaders, civil society leaders, thought leaders, and stakeholders from across Africa and the world to discuss critical issues concerning Africa’s socio-economic growth and development. This event serves as a prestigious platform for honouring outstanding African leaders who are contributing to Africa’s development in various fields of endeavour.

Among the distinguished individuals recognised at the event were former President Jakaya Kikwete of Tanzania; Hon. Justice Martha Koome, serving as Chief Justice and President of the Supreme Court of Kenya; Dr. The Hon. Kailesh Jagutpal, who holds the position of Minister of Health and Wellness in Mauritius; and Debele Hursa, Hon. Commissioner of the Ethiopian Customs Commission.

 

Also honored were Dr. Adesola Adeduntan, Group CEO of First Bank Nigeria Limited; Prof. George Openjuru, Vice Chancellor of Gulu University, Uganda; Jeanette Chanda Makgolo, Commissioner-General of the Botswana Unified Revenue Service (BURS); Kennedy G. Bungane, CEO of African Bank, South Africa; Dr. Zafivanona Lainkana, Director General of the Malagasy Customs Commission; Dr. Jesca Nkwabi, CEO of KOM Group in Tanzania; Henry Saamoi Bio, CEO of International (Liberia) Bank Limited; Daniel Asiedu, Managing Director/CEO of OmniBSIC Bank in Ghana; Daere Akobo, Chairman/GCEO of PANA Holdings Group in Nigeria; Mike Kamungeremu, President of the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC); and Akol E. Ayii, CEO of Trinity Energy Group in South Sudan.
