Rwanda Hosts Nile Basin Development Forum

About 500 delegates have arrived the venue of the fifth Nile Basin Development Forum in Kigali Rwanda with the aim of enhancing investment in Nile Cooperation towards a water secure future.

The forum which kicks off today at Radisson Blu Hotel & Convention Centre, Kigali in Rwanda, will end on October 25, 2017.

It is expected that delegates from ten member states of the Nile Basin Initiative (NBI) amongst others, will be in attendance.

According to the Technical Advisor at the Ministry of Environment in Rwanda, Ms Nyirakamana Jacqueline “the Sudan, South Sudan, Ethiopia and Rwanda have confirmed attendance.”

The Nile Basin Initiative is an intergovernmental partnership formed by Nile Basin countries of Burundi, DR Congo, Egypt, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, The Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda.

The NBDF is a high-level Forum that brings together diverse categories of stakeholders to exchange information and views on the steps necessary to achieve sustainable management and development of the shared Nile Basin water resources.
