Sir Franklyn Wilson, Chairman of Arawak Homes and Sunshine Holdings Limited, has been named to the Top 40 African Diaspora Leaders List at the 2026 International Forum on African-Caribbean Leadership (IFAL), held on 24 September at the Marriott Marquis, Broadway, New York, during United Nations General Assembly week. The recognition was conferred during the forum’s Recognitions & Awards presentation, hosted by African Leadership Magazine.

The listing recognises Sir Franklyn’s decades of business leadership in the Bahamas and his contribution to economic empowerment within the African diaspora.
Sir Franklyn was among the founding members of the “Sunshine Boys,” a group of young Bahamian entrepreneurs who established what became Sunshine Holdings Limited in 1975, now one of the oldest and largest conglomerates in the Bahamas. He also chairs Arawak Homes, one of the country’s leading residential developers. Elected to the Bahamian House of Assembly in 1972 as one of its youngest members, he later served as Chairman of the Council of the College of the Bahamas from 2002 to 2007, and has been a longstanding philanthropic supporter of education and community causes in the Bahamas.
IFAL is a flagship event of the African Leadership Magazine, convened annually on the margins of the United Nations General Assembly. The forum brings together heads of state, policymakers, investors and private-sector leaders from Africa and the Caribbean to strengthen trans-regional cooperation, trade and investment.
