South Africa: Minister Pledges Support to End Western Cape Drought Situation

South Africa’s minister for Water and Sanitation Nomvula Mokonyane recently met with the Mayor of Cape Town Patricia De Lille and Local Government, Environment and Development Planning MEC Anton Bredell, to discuss solutions to the Western Cape drought situation.

The minister has pledged through her department to support all initiatives towards the provision of sustainable water security solutions in Western Cape and Cape Town.

“Working with the city and province, we will support initiatives that provide innovative and sustainable water security solutions. The increased exploration of groundwater resources and the re-use of water are amongst the solutions we are talking to,” said Minister Mokonyane.
