 About the Event

The African Leadership Magazine Persons of the Year is in keeping with our tradition of presenting the sides of the continent, which hardly finds placement on the global stage, and celebrating exemplary leadership and individuals who have contributed to shaping the global perception of the African continent. These group of Africans are the Game-Changers, who are doing things differently towards re-positioning the African continent; Our nominees, as in the past all have one thing in common, which is their unwavering commitment to the Africa project.

Past recipients of this prestigious award since 2010 have included Dr. Mo Ibrahim, founder, Mo Ibrahim Foundation & the Ibrahim Prize for African Leadership – 2010; Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, President of Liberia – 2011; Xavier-Luc Duval, Former Finance Minister and Deputy Prime Minister of Mauritius – 2013; H.E. President Jakaya Kikwete, immediate past President of Tanzania – 2014, His Excellency, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, Former President of Nigeria, 2015.

The African Leadership Magazine Persons of the Year is an annual award reserved for selected Africans who have distinguished themselves in their chosen fields of endeavor. These Africans are considered to have blazed the trail in the year under review. A shortlist of nominees are selected from a survey conducted via our online and offline platforms, which is then forwarded to the selection committee and the editorial board for final consideration, selection, and approval.
