Top 10 Rules of Success

  1. Do what you love.

When you do what you love, you are willing to show up to work, even if no one pays you; but when you do what you hate, you dread getting out of bed, even if someone offers you the world.Likewise, love, being divine energy, is the most powerful creative force in the universe.  So, when you work out of love, your works are enhanced, even causing some to believe they were inspired by the divine.

  2. Do what you are good at.

Because you love singing, it doesn’t mean you were born to do it.  We all come into the world with different gifts and talents; they are the biggest arrows pointing toward your purpose in life.  As birds don’t need to put in as much effort as everyone else to fly, so you don’t need to put in as much effort into doing what you are wired to do.  Doing what you are good at gives you the edge over everyone else who has to put in twice the work just to be even half as good as you.

  3. Be yourself.

There is only one you.  You have something unique to contribute to the world.  You are here to give the world the best version of yourself, not the best copy of someone else.  The more you strive to be yourself, the more original you are, and the more original you are, the more rewarded you will be.

  4. Learn your craft.

To succeed at anything, you have to be good at it.  To be good at something, you have to work at it.  Learn your craft, learn from the best, learn from everyone, and then aim to surpass them.  You get out of your talents what you put into them.

  5. Take a different route.

If you take a route that everyone takes, don’t be surprised if you get held up in congestion.  But, if you take a route that few take, you will arrive at your destination quicker.  And, if you take a route that no one takes, you will arrive quickest.  Such is the journey to success: you have to be creative in the pursuit of it.  Carving your own path can get you to success quicker than following everyone else’s trail will.

  6. Believe in yourself.

When pursuing your dreams, you will face doubt, fear, and sometimes even despair.  Family, friends, and people you care about may even be your greatest critics.  It is necessary, therefore, that you believe in yourself; if you don’t, it won’t matter, even if a billion people believe in you.  You can only rise as high as your thoughts.  The higher your thoughts, the higher your deeds.

  7. Improve yourself daily.

The only way to succeed in a world of seven billion people is to stand out, and the only way to stand out is to pursue excellence.  Improving yourself continuously is rewarding yourself continuously.  Excellent work speaks for itself; do less talking, and therefore, more improving.

  8. Don’t give up.

Rome wasn’t built in a day, Egypt wasn’t built in a week, and Greece certainly wasn’t built in a month.  Your dreams, likewise, won’t come to life instantly.  You often have to persevere through failure-after-failure until you arrive at success.

  1. Be spiritual.

You are a spirit housed in a body.  Your greatest potential does not come from your mind, your heart, or your body, but from your soul.  Feed your mind, and you will achieve great things; your heart, and you will achieve extraordinary things; your soul, and you will achieve remarkable things.

  1. Give back.

Help people —lift others up —change lives.  Don’t just aspire to make a living; aspire to make a difference.  It is not what you take from the world that makes you great, but what you give.  And, give as you get, for you get as you give.
