Africa World Airlines (AWA) has been announced as the Official Airline Partner for the 15th African Leadership Magazine (ALM) Persons of the Year (POTY) Awards, scheduled to hold from 27–28 February 2026 in Accra, Ghana.
This strategic partnership unites two institutions committed to connecting Africa, advancing regional integration, shining a spotlight on those making a real difference on the continent, while reinforcing the airline’s dedication to safe, reliable, and affordable travel for all.

Founded in 2010, Africa World Airlines has grown into one of West Africa’s most trusted carriers, recognised for its strong safety culture, operational reliability, and affordable air travel. The airline currently operates key domestic routes, including Kumasi, Tamale, and Takoradi, and strategic regional hubs, such as Lagos, Abuja, and Ouagadougou. With planned expansion into Abidjan, AWA continues to expand its footprint and strengthen connectivity across the region.
In recognition of its growing role in regional mobility and economic integration, Africa World Airlines will receive a Special Recognition Award as “Africa’s Leading Global Connector” at the 2026 POTY Awards.
Speaking on the partnership, African Leadership Magazine noted that the collaboration reflects a shared vision of using connectivity as a catalyst for trade, investment, diplomacy, and people-to-people exchange across Africa.
Through this alliance, AWA and African Leadership Magazine aim to reinforce the importance of aviation as a driver of economic growth, regional integration, and social progress.
The ALM Persons of the Year (POTY) Awards, now in its 15th year, celebrate leaders and innovators shaping Africa’s future across business, governance, technology, etc. The event brings together Africa’s high-level executives, policymakers, entrepreneurs and global partners to honour excellence, drive growth, innovation, and progress across the continent.
