African Trade and Investment Agency of the Year Award

The Economic Development Board of Madagascar was recently conferred with the African Trade and Investment Agency of the Year Award at the just-concluded 13th African Business Leadership Awards (ABLA) presentation ceremony, organised by the African Leadership Magazine. The ABLA presentation ceremony was a key highlight of the 8th ALM Africa Summit, which took place on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at The Dorchester Hotel, London, United Kingdom, with the theme New Opportunities for African Investments, Partnerships, and Collaborations.

 

The Board’s investiture with the African Trade and Investment Agency of the Year Award is in recognition of its efforts and achievements in promoting trade and investments for the economic development of Madagascar.

As an investment promotion agency, the Economic Development Board of Madagascar (EDBM) has continuously strengthened the competitiveness of the Malagasy private sector, increased Foreign Direct Investments to the country, developed and recommended business incentives for private investments in Madagascar, and provided a one-stop shop to help investors set up or expand their businesses through tailored services by specialised advisors.

The award was received by the organisation’s Director General, Ms. Josielle Rafidy, who was joined by the Board Chairwoman, Mrs. Lantosoa Rakotomalala.

The African Business Leadership Awards ceremony attracted high-level business leaders and policymakers, including Lord Dolar Popat, a Member of the UK House of Lords and the British Prime Minister’s Trade Envoy to Rwanda and Uganda; Baroness Sandy Verma, Member of the UK House of Lords; Hon. Renganaden Padayachy, Minister of Finance, Economic Planning, and Development, Mauritius; Rindra Rabarinirinarison, Minister for Economy and Finance, Madagascar; Hon. Seedy Sk Nije, Deputy Speaker, National Assembly Of The Gambia; Hon. Fonati Koffa, House of Reps, Liberia; Michel Ussene, Executive Chairman, Uxene Smart City, Mozambique.
