The Governor of the Bank of Mozambique (GBM), Rogério Zandamela, received a delegation from the Monetary Authority of Macau (AMCM), Banco Nacional Ultramarino (BNU), Portugal, and Bank of China (BOC), with the aim to deepen relations between the banks.

In his speech, AMCM’s executive director, Vong Sin Man, highlighted the fact that this was the first visit in the context of closer bilateral relations between the People’s Republic of China and the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP), with emphasis for the economic-financial component, with Mozambique being the first country to be scaled.

Vong Sin Man has expressed great interest that in the future Mozambique will use Renmimbi, the official Chinese currency, as one of the currencies for commercial transactions, investments and its reserves.

In turn, Rogério Zandamela expressed openness to the closer relations between the parties. “We know we have Macao investors in our financial sector, but we believe we can find innovative ways to attract more investment. Let us work together, gradually, so that we can all make the most of this cooperation. The central question will be how to do it, “Zandamela challenged.

“We will see internally with our work teams how we can move forward, including through site visits, to chart the best strategies,” said the WBG.

It should be noted that the BM has signed memoranda of cooperation with both the Monetary Authority of Macao and the Central Bank of the People’s Republic of China.

In addition to the Governor of BM, AMCM, BNU and BOC, the meeting was attended by the Director of the Department of International Relations and Protocol (DRI), Jamal Omar, the Director of the Governor’s Office (GAB) and Communication and Image (GCI) , Silvina de Abreu, Director of the Department of Prudential Supervision (DSP), Pinto Fulane, and Assistant Managers Melita Tinga, Department of Regulation and Licensing (DRL), Carlos Baptista, Department of Markets and Reserves Management ) and Luís Manjama, from the Department of Licensing and Exchange Control (DLC).
