Mr. Dieudonne Kasembo Nyembo, Chairman of GecotransSARL, Congo DR, was presented with the Special African Business Leadership Commendation Award at the International Forum on African-Caribbean Leadership 2023. In recognition of his significant impact on shaping the transportation industry and his philanthropic work in the Congo.

Under the astute leadership of Mr. Dieudonne KasemboNyembo, GECOTRANS SARL has witnessed a series of extraordinary achievements and milestones that have left a remarkable mark not only on the company itself but also on broader Congolese society.

One of the standout initiatives was the investment in a 3-hectare container park for reducing congestion at the Matadi Seaport, a critical transit point on the Congo River. This strategic move, though seemingly modest for a country of such magnitude, addressed a pressing issue that had been causing additional costs and delays due to anchored ships and blocked containers in transit at the port of Pointe Noire.

The MAVUMA Asphalt Sand Bitumen Manufacturing Plant project is one of Mr. Nyembo’s forward-thinking initiatives to establish a facility for bitumen production within the Democratic Republic of the Congo. He equally oversaw the establishment of a 99.99% crude gold merchant gold refinery unit in the South Kivu province, known as Congo Gold Raffinerie.

The major highlight of the International Forum on African Caribbean Leadership in New York 2023 was the presentation of the 9th Caribbean and African Leadership Awards to deserving dignitaries. Select delegates were invited to the New York Hilton Midtown, United States, for the event.
