Dr John Panonetsa Mangudya, Chief Executive Officer of Zimbabwe’s Mutapa Investment Fund, has received a Special Congressional Commendation, presented in conjunction with the 2026 International Forum on African-Caribbean Leadership (IFAL), held on 24 September at the Marriott Marquis, Broadway, New York, during United Nations General Assembly week.

The commendation recognises Dr Mangudya’s leadership in sovereign wealth management and his decade-long tenure steering Zimbabwe’s monetary policy.
Dr Mangudya assumed his role at the Mutapa Investment Fund, Zimbabwe’s sovereign wealth fund, in May 2024, following a decade as Governor of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe. His career spans central banking, commercial banking, and international banking and investment, including senior positions at the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe, Afreximbank and CBZ Bank.
IFAL is a flagship event of the African Leadership Magazine, convened annually on the margins of the United Nations General Assembly. The forum brings together heads of state, policymakers, investors and private-sector leaders from Africa and the Caribbean to strengthen trans-regional cooperation, trade and investment.
