H.E. Bassirou Diomaye Faye, President of Senegal, has been honoured with the African Inspiration Leadership Award at the 2026 International Forum on African-Caribbean Leadership (IFAL), held on 24 September at the Marriott Marquis, Broadway, New York, during United Nations General Assembly week. The recognition was conferred during the forum’s Recognitions & Awards presentation, hosted by African Leadership Magazine.

The award recognises President Faye’s remarkable rise to national leadership and his early agenda of institutional and economic reform in Senegal.
President Faye took office on 2 April 2024, becoming, at 44, the youngest elected president in Senegal’s history. A former tax inspector, he trained at Senegal’s National School of Administration after studying law at Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar, and served as General Secretary of the PASTEF party from 2022 until his election.
IFAL is a flagship event of the African Leadership Magazine, convened annually on the margins of the United Nations General Assembly. The forum brings together heads of state, policymakers, investors and private-sector leaders from Africa and the Caribbean to strengthen trans-regional cooperation, trade and investment.
