(Dr.) Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, Governor of Enugu State, Nigeria, has been named African Business-Friendly Governor of the Year at the 15th African Business Leadership Awards (ABLA) 2025, held during the ALM Africa Summit London.

Governor Mbah was recognised for his bold reforms, investor-focused governance, and transformational leadership that has repositioned Enugu State as a top destination for business and development. In just over two years, his administration has passed over 15 strategic laws, issued key executive orders, and attracted investment commitments exceeding ₦300 billion, a strong indication of investor confidence and policy clarity under his leadership.

A lawyer, entrepreneur, and public servant, Governor Mbah brings a unique blend of academic depth and corporate expertise to governance. He holds advanced degrees from Lagos State University, the University of Oxford, and IESE Business School, and has completed executive programmes at Harvard, Stanford, and Lagos Business Schools. He is also the founder of Pinnacle Oil and Gas Ltd., which revolutionised petroleum logistics in Nigeria and the West African region. His earlier tenure as Chief of Staff and Commissioner for Finance in Enugu State laid the fiscal foundation still in use today.

This award celebrates Governor Mbah’s efforts in enhancing the ease of doing business, strengthening public institutions, and advancing a forward-thinking policy environment that supports innovation, sustainability, and economic growth.
