Recognised as the foremost global platform for strengthening ties between Africa and the Caribbean, IFAL 2026 will convene Heads of State, Ministers, multilateral institutions, private sector leaders, academics, and diaspora influencers to advance a shared Afro-descendant agenda. Taking place in New York—home to one of the world’s most vibrant diaspora communities and the headquarters of the United Nations—the gathering comes at a pivotal moment in global realignment.

Despite a combined GDP exceeding $3.5 trillion, trade between Africa and the Caribbean remains below $1.5 billion, highlighting significant untapped potential. IFAL 2026 will address this gap by fostering high-level dialogue and driving actionable partnerships across key areas such as trade and investment, climate resilience, digital transformation, cultural diplomacy, and diaspora engagement.

The theme underscores a renewed commitment to strengthening collective identity, advancing economic sovereignty, and positioning Africa and the Caribbean as influential players in shaping a more equitable global order. The Forum will also seek to deepen collaboration between the African Union (AU) and the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), while amplifying a stronger, coordinated voice in global governance, climate negotiations, and international development frameworks.

The one-day programme will feature keynote addresses, high-level dialogues, and expert-led panel sessions covering economic convergence, cultural diplomacy, blue economy innovation, and digital cooperation. A dedicated diaspora dialogue will explore opportunities in transnational entrepreneurship and investment.

A major highlight will be the Afro-Caribbean Public Service Leadership Awards, recognising outstanding leaders driving impactful reforms in governance, diplomacy, and socio-economic development. The event will also unveil the Top 50 Global African Institutions and the Afro-Caribbean Power 100 – Most Influential Leaders 2026, celebrating excellence across business, policy, culture, and innovation.

According to the organisers, IFAL 2026 represents a strategic platform to transform shared history into shared prosperity. With Africa’s market projected to reach $6.7 trillion by 2030 and the Caribbean’s services-driven economies continuing to expand, the event is set to unlock new pathways for trade, investment, and institutional collaboration.

Expected outcomes include strengthened AU–CARICOM cooperation frameworks, new bilateral and multilateral agreements, increased diaspora investment flows, and actionable policy commitments to drive sustainable growth and regional integration.

As global dynamics continue to evolve, IFAL 2026 will serve as a defining moment for Afro-Caribbean collaboration—setting the stage for a more connected, resilient, and influential Afro-descendant future.
