The president of Cote d’Iviore Alassane Ouattara has nominated Henriette Diabate as leader of the ruling Rally of Republicans (RDR) party after refusing to continue as leader of the party.

His refusal remains a shock to most party loyalists and political watchers across the continent.

While the President is been appointed an honorary president of Rally of Republicans party his nominee, Henriette Diabate, is also voted for with loud and enthusiastic approval from the majority.

The president has also requested to maintain and strengthen political alliances especially with that of former President Henri Konan Bédie’s party, the Democratic Party of Cote d’Ivoire (PDCI) towards the next presidential election in 2020.
