Hon. John Briceño, Prime Minister of Belize and Minister of Finance, Investment, Economic Transformation, Civil Aviation, and E-Governance, is confirmed to attend the International Forum on African Caribbean Leadership (IFAL) 2026, taking place on 24 September at the Marriott Marquis, Broadway, New York, during United Nations General Assembly Week.
Prime Minister Briceño will participate in the Heads of State & Government Interventions, contributing a Caribbean perspective to the forum’s theme, “The Global African Alliance: Reimagining Solidarity, Sovereignty & South–South Cooperation.”

As Belize’s Prime Minister, Briceño also oversees portfolios covering fiscal management, investment, economic transformation, civil aviation and e-governance. Belize’s Ministry of Finance identifies his responsibilities as including national fiscal policy, investment promotion, capital budgeting and coordination with regional and international financial institutions.
His current economic portfolio also encompasses digital government and public-sector modernisation. In 2026, Belize launched its National Digital Agenda 2026–2030, with digital transformation positioned as part of the country’s broader development strategy.
His participation at IFAL 2026 brings Belize into a high-level dialogue examining stronger connections across African and Caribbean leadership, economic cooperation and South–South engagement.
