Mr Teferi Mekonnen, CEO and President of Oromia Bank, Ethiopia, is confirmed to participate in the International Forum on African Caribbean Leadership (IFAL) 2026, taking place on 24 September at the Marriott Marquis, Broadway, New York, during United Nations General Assembly Week.
Mekonnen will contribute to the Capital, Banking & Investment Power Panel, under the session theme, “Financing the Alliance”, which brings sovereign funds, commercial banking and development finance into discussion.

As Chief Executive Officer of Oromia Bank, Mekonnen has been involved in the institution’s efforts to expand digital financial services and financial inclusion. Recent bank communications highlight his role in advancing digital transformation, including digital lending and banking solutions aimed at improving access to financial services.
Oromia Bank has also developed partnerships focused on digital payments and financial services, including collaboration with Ethiopian Airlines and Quantum Technology on digital payment solutions.
Mekonnen’s participation at IFAL 2026 brings an Ethiopian banking perspective to discussions on capital mobilisation, financial inclusion and the role of financial institutions in strengthening Africa’s economic cooperation.
