Ms Kátia Epalanga, President of Muhatu Energy Angola and Executive Director of Sonangol E.P., is confirmed to participate in the International Forum on African Caribbean Leadership (IFAL) 2026, taking place on 24 September at the Marriott Marquis, Broadway, New York, during United Nations General Assembly Week.
Epalanga will contribute to the Energy & Resource Sovereignty Dialogue, which examines energy as a lever of sovereignty and infrastructure development under the forum theme, “The Global African Alliance: Reimagining Solidarity, Sovereignty & South–South Cooperation.”
In March 2026, Epalanga assumed the presidency of Muhatu Energy Angola, succeeding Nicola Mvuayi. The platform promotes the visibility, professional development and advancement of women in Angola’s petroleum sector.

Epalanga is also an Executive Director of Sonangol, Angola’s national oil company. Sonangol’s 2026 communications continue to identify her in the company’s executive leadership and highlight her involvement in initiatives connected to women’s participation and leadership in the energy sector.
Her participation at IFAL 2026 brings an industry perspective to discussions on energy security, resource sovereignty, infrastructure development and the role of African institutions in shaping the continent’s energy future.
