Malawi President Address Diaspora Community in New York

In a meeting organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the President of Malawi, Arthur Peter Mutharika recently met with Malawians living in New York and encouraged them to possess a positive attitude towards their country.

The President outlined a number of challenges the country has suffered since his assumption of office in 2014 and positive measures that had been put in place over-time to establish lasting solutions.

Some of the achievements include the breaking of ESCOM into two segments of electricity generation and electricity distribution, projects towards poverty reduction and rural electrification, rural growth centers, building and upgrading of roads. He also mentioned the disbanding of the University of Malawi and the establishment of community colleges.

He went on to encourage the diaspora community to have good thoughts for their nation.

“I encourage you to speak positively about our country. Have a positive attitude about Malawi,” he advised.
