Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the government of Niger state, to construct a $450million state-of–art integrated sugar industry in Lavun, Minna.

According to Dangote, the sugar cane plantation will cover about 16,000 hectares of land, generating over 15,000 jobs to individuals in the state after its completion.

“Dangote Group is a firm believer in the vast economic potential of Nigeria. We have decided to invest in local sugar production in Niger because of the vast arable land available in the state,” he said.

This development promises to uplift the state and engage the people with employment.
