Nigeria: Kogi to Benefit from Environmental Loan

Kogi State government has recently said it had been included as one of the beneficiaries of $508.59 Million (N152.6 billion) fund from the Strategic Investment Loan, SIL, to tackle the effect of environmental degradation in the state.

Governor, Yahaha Bello who spoke in Lokoja while addressing the representatives of the World Bank and the Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project, said the project was in collaboration with the International Development Association, IDA, the Global Environment Facility, GEF, Trust Fund and the Federal Government of Nigeria.

Bello said environmental degradation and its challenges had been a serious problem in the state, lamenting that the state did not have the fund to tackle the ugly situation.
