Across Africa, leaders are transforming institutions, creating opportunities, strengthening communities, advancing innovation and developing solutions to some of the continent’s most pressing challenges. Their work deserves recognition, their achievements deserve greater visibility, and their example can inspire a new generation of Africans to lead with purpose and deliver meaningful change.
The ALM Persons of the Year Awards provide a platform for celebrating such leadership, recognising individuals whose contributions demonstrate excellence, integrity, innovation and a commitment to Africa’s progress. From governance and business to education, healthcare, agriculture, peace and security, the awards spotlight those translating vision into tangible results and making a difference in the lives of people across the continent.
As nominations open, ALM calls on individuals, institutions, professional associations, civil society organisations and members of the African diaspora to put forward deserving candidates whose achievements merit wider recognition.
The ALM Persons of the Year Awards follow a three-stage selection process:
- Call for Nominations: Individuals, organisations and institutions submit candidates with supporting evidence of their achievements.
- Editorial Board Review: ALM’s Editorial Board assesses nominations against the relevant category criteria and shortlists eligible candidates.
- Public Voting: The public votes online for shortlisted candidates, with winners determined in accordance with the established voting procedures.
The winners of the 2026 awards cycle will be formally recognised at the African Leadership Magazine Persons of the Year Awards Ceremony on 26 – 27 February 2027 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Nominations close on 2 November 2026.
