Mr. Obiano polled 72. 7 percent of the total votes cast to win the Good Governance Poll 2017, ahead of Akinwunmi Ambode, Governor of Lagos State, who maintained the second position with 16.5 percent.

The Poll, which commenced at 10.45am, on Monday, July 10, 2017, and closed at 4.00pm, on Friday, July 28, 2017, is a strategic engagement tool designed to rate the performances of Nigerian Governors, in line with the Magazine’s mandate of providing credible information, celebrating exemplary leadership, and outstanding performance, fostering greater socio-economic development in Nigeria, and improving the quality of lives of the people.

He is therefore declared Nigeria’s Best Performing Governor 2017.”

Giami commended Obiano’s commitment to the sustainable development of Anambra State, with the successes recorded in achieving his administration’s four point agenda in the state, which is anchored on Mechanised Agriculture, Oil and Gas, Trade and Commerce, and industrialization.

“We truly commend Obiano as a true African leader and performer. His achievements cut across road infrastructure, security, and most profoundly, the economy. He has placed his state as a destination for investors to thrive, which has resulted to job creation, support for entrepreneurship and enterprise development.”

“Topping Ambode, Wike and other five (5) performing Governors in this poll is an indication that Obiano has risen to the occasion, and Nigerians are aware of his strides in Anambra State. The African Leadership Magazine will continue to support and partner with the Governor in realizing his vision for the state” the publisher noted.

The magazine nominated 8 Governors for the poll, based on their performances in four (4) core criteria- Security, Economy, Infrastructure, and Accountability.
