Honour African Leadership Magazine, the foremost media organization dedicated to celebrating the best of Africa has concluded arrangements to honour the duo of the Director-General of the National Sports Commission, Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye and the President of the Nigerian Football Federation, Alhaji Aminu Maigari at a Special Luncheon in Curitaba, Brazil The duo will be honoured with the award of African Sports Development Icon and African Sports Personality of the Year respectively at the African Sports Development Forum and Awards holding at the Radisson Hotel, Curitaba, Panara, Brazil by 2:00pm. A Statement from the Publisher of the Magazine, Dr. Ken Giami disclosed that Hon. Elegbeleye was being honoured for his bold initiative in redirecting attention to grassroots sports development in Nigeria which is a sine qua non for future laurels at sporting competitions. “Hon. Elegbeleye has shown the advantage of putting round pegs in round holes. He is not engaging in trial and error, he is very surefooted in his policy implementation and pursuit and as you can see, the medals have started pouring in and you can only imagine the multiplier effect of his grassroots sports rejuvenation policy in years to come” said Dr. Giami. Alh. Maigari on the other hand is been honoured for his record breaking tenure as President of the Nigerian Football Federation. “Since Alh. Maigari assumed office 3 years ago, Nigeria has rediscovered its dominance in football and the results have been quite outstanding. From the age-group competitions to women football and the Senior National Team, every aspect of Nigerian Football has felt the Maigari Magic Wand and Alh. Aminu Maigari is easily one of the most successful Heads of the Football House in Nigeria since its inception” was Dr. Giami’s summation of the reason for Alhaji Maigari’s award. The duo have since written in to confirm their acceptance of the award and participation at the forum while top players in the sporting world as well as friends and well wishers of the duo have all confirmed attendance at the event which will hold at the same hotel where the Super Eagles will be camping 24 hours to their opening match against Iran at the same city.
