In reception of the Prestigious African Leadership Magazine (ALM) Central Bank Governor of the Year Award, the Governor of the Central Bank of Mauritius, Harvesh K. Seegolam, has urged African leaders to join hands together for the development of the continent regardless of any field they belong to.

Seegolam issued this call as part of his remarks at the African Leadership Magazine Summit 2021, a convening of top business leaders and policymakers across the continent, which was held virtually with the theme ‘Africa 4.0: Redefining Growth, Sustainability & Innovation’. During his presentation, Seegolam commended the efforts of other business leaders who were awarded at the summit, referring to their contributions as actions aligned to the African renaissance as he congratulated them.

“I’d therefore like to congratulate also all the nominees who are here tonight, and who need to be commended for their respective achievements and their contributions to the African renaissance that the revered Madiba held so close to his heart. This award is for all of us.

“Together, we have a lot to do for the future of our content across many fields, be it in banking, financial technology, digital money, AMLCFD, sustainability and climate change, digitalization, payment systems, intra-Africa growth, trade, and investments… for the betterment of our continent”

Seegolam noted that the award crystallizes the sum of hard work, commitment, and passion from members of staff at the Bank of Mauritius who relentlessly work for the advancement of the country. As he accepted the award, he appreciated the support he received during the vetting process from the Directors of the Bank, Deputy Governors, and his family acknowledging their role as being pivotal to such recognition.
