Tadesse is a globally recognised development finance executive, credited with transforming the TDB Group into one of Africa’s fastest-growing and most diversified financial institutions. Since assuming leadership in 2012, he has driven the bank’s strategic evolution from the former PTA Bank into a dynamic regional powerhouse, with total assets surpassing USD 10 billion and annual profits reaching USD 230 million by 2023.

Headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya, the TDB Group now comprises multiple business units and subsidiaries, including TDB Asset Management, the Trade and Development Fund (TDF), TDB Captive Insurance Company (TCI), TDB Fund Manager (ESATAL), and the ESA Trade Finance Fund (ESATF), which he co-chairs. These platforms support critical sectors such as trade, infrastructure, SMEs, and gender-focused entrepreneurship across Eastern and Southern Africa.

Under Tadesse’s leadership, the bank has maintained non-performing loans below 4%, a rare achievement in the development finance space, while expanding its developmental reach into underserved and high-impact areas. He also launched the TDB Academy, strengthening talent development in finance across the region.

A respected voice in international development finance, Tadesse serves on several global platforms, including the International Development Finance Club and the Africa Investment Forum. He is also Chair of Financial Sector Deepening Ethiopia, reflecting his broader commitment to sustainable finance and inclusion.

Tadesse holds degrees from the London School of Economics, Western University (Canada), and Wits Business School and has completed executive education at Harvard and INSEAD. He has received numerous accolades, including African Banker of the Year (2019, 2024) and Development Banker of the Year (2022), honouring his contribution to Africa’s economic growth and financial resilience.

His participation in the Africa Summit London will provide valuable insight into the future of development finance, intra-African trade, and financial innovation on the continent.
