Trump to Ban Transgender Individuals from U.S Military

President Donald Trump on Wednesday said he will ban transgender individuals from serving in the U.S Military. While this decision appeals to some people, it puts others in doubt as to what becomes the fate of transgenders serving in the U.S.

The decision taken by the U.S president came as a surprise to everyone as it contradicts his promise to fight for bisexuals, homosexuals, lesbians etc. during his campaign for office last year.

“After consultation with my Generals and military experts, please be advised that the United States Government will not accept or allow transgender individuals to serve in any capacity in the U.S. Military,” Trump tweeted, without naming any of the generals or experts.

“Our military must be focused on decisive and overwhelming victory and cannot be burdened with the tremendous medical costs and disruption that transgender in the military would entail,” he said.

Decision regarding the removal of already serving transgender Military Members has not been reached

Trump’s decision has sparked a protest in court by hundreds who rallied outside an armed force recruiting station in Manhattan’s Times Square.

“We are in a crisis. This is a dark day for everyone,” Brad Hoylman, New York’s sole openly gay state senator, said as he addressed the crowd, which carried “Resist” signs amid chants of: “Hey-hey, ho-ho, Donald Trump has got to go.”
