Harare recently witnessed the graduation of five hundred women, who underwent training to enhance their business and computer skills.

The women who completed a three-month training programme graduated with their certificate at Cyril Jennings Hall. The training was organized and sponsored by Highlands Rotary Club in partnership with Rotary Club of Denver Mile High of United States.

Present at the ceremony was Harare City Council services manager Mrs. Lizzie Muchena, who represented the Harare mayor councilor Bernard Manyenyeni. She advised the women to lay hold on various opportunities gives them economic independence.

“This empowerment project that focuses on women, in particular, is important because it does not affirm our belief that women are only pillars of their homes and communities, but are often unnoticed economic partners of our communities.

“I urge women to take part in such courses and encourage them to continue improving on the skills that they acquired, and become significant entrepreneurs who are able to mentor other women,” she said.

She went on by commending the efforts of the Rotary Club in building the women and pledged that more will be done to emancipate more women with knowledge.
