Hon. Dr Nathalia Goagoses, Governor of the Erongo Region, Namibia, has received a Special Congressional Commendation, presented in conjunction with the 2026 International Forum on African-Caribbean Leadership (IFAL), held on 24 September at the Marriott Marquis, Broadway, New York, during United Nations General Assembly week.

The commendation recognises Governor Goagoses’s public service career and her leadership as Erongo’s first female governor.
Dr Goagoses was appointed Governor of the Erongo Region in July 2025, becoming the first woman to hold the office. She previously served as Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Training and Innovation and as Deputy Minister of Urban and Rural Development, and was formerly Chief Regional Officer of the Erongo Regional Council, bringing more than 40 years of public-sector experience to her current role.
IFAL is a flagship event of the African Leadership Magazine, convened annually on the margins of the United Nations General Assembly. The forum brings together heads of state, policymakers, investors and private-sector leaders from Africa and the Caribbean to strengthen trans-regional cooperation, trade and investment.
