African Economic Congress Startup Challenge Announced

The African Economic Congress Startup Challenge, an international Competition for African entrepreneurs in strategic partnerships with innovation Hub, welcomes teams from all over Africa and the world to this year’s edition of the African Startup Challenge.

The platform provides access to a large network of founders, mentors and experts, for entrepreneurs in the ideation and execution stages to pitch to Judges and investors. The AEC startup challenge aims to infuse a philosophy of innovation as well as nurture technology-led innovations to create jobs and improve livelihoods in Africa. The expected outcome of the competition is to select winning ideas that can lead to new products, programs, projects and processes and to engage young entrepreneurs eager to tackle the challenges they face as well as global Challenges through “smartsolutions” that transform the economy of Africa and the world at large.

With the final event is slated for November 13, 2019, in Abuja Nigeria, all members of the team who would attend the final event and pitch must be enrolled at the Innovation Hub throughout the course of the competition (between October-November 2019) and the business ideas submitted to AECSC should not yet have generated revenue more than $20,000p.a.

Intending applicants/teams are required to submit a short summary of their startup idea and how it plans to be effectively followed through. After a review, from the pool of applications, the most implementable ideas will be selected and further subjected to another stage where an executive summary of the business idea will be evaluated by the Innovation Hub, Nigeria. On completion of this phase, the best ten (10) applicants/teams will be provided with a personal mentor who will advise them on their final ACE pitch.
