First Mutual Health, an arm of First Mutual Holdings Limited, has donated US$5 000 to the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Zimbabwe (ICAZ) to secure the procurement of A’ Level accounting books for less-privileged secondary schools across the country.

The donation program spearheaded by the ICAZ Mashonaland district society committee began in 2009 and has spread its rapid tentacles across the country where a substantial number of accounting books have been donated to schools. The plan is to procure 85 A’ Level accounting textbooks which include 60 Cambridge International AS/A’ Level Accounting- Randall Second Edition and 25 Cambridge International AS/A Level Accounting — Ian Harris textbooks respectively; with the textbooks slated to be donated to high schools in Manicaland province.

The Managing Director of First Mutual Health, Stanford Sisya, said:

“The donation will go a long way and will encourage students to undertake accounting studies seriously from high school and eventually at university.

“We are confident that these books will help the students to access new knowledge and that the books will also assist the accounting teachers in being effective in their tutoring”

Carrying out such Corporate Social Responsibility, the donation is in accord with the First Mutual Holdings Limited corporate social program meant to mitigate and lessen the widening gap between the rich and poor in the society affecting disadvantaged families unable to afford tuition and education-related costs for their children.

For its foundation, First Mutual Foundation maintains a major objective of a mission to enhance children’s access to education via a bursary scheme covering school fees and ancillary needs related to the learning experience a student is expected to undergo.
