Galaxy Backbone Limited Wins Nigeria’s Most-impactful Government Agency

In recognition of its contributions to Nigeria’s digital economic growth and development, Galaxy Backbone Limited, a public enterprise of the government of Nigeria, was recently recognised as Nigeria’s Most-Impactful Government Agency. At the just-concluded 13th African Business Leadership Awards (ABLA) presentation ceremony, organised by the African Leadership Magazine.

The ABLA presentation ceremony was a key highlight of the 8th ALM Africa Summit, which took place on Tuesday, 11 July 2023 at The Dorchester Hotel, London – United Kingdom, with the theme- New Opportunities for African Investments, Partnerships and Collaborations.

In addition, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Galaxy Backbone Limited, Professor Muhammad Bello Abubakar was also conferred with the Special Congressional Commendation of the South Carolina House of Representatives, United States of America, by Rep. Rosalyn D. Henderson-Myers, a member of the legislative body. Following preliminary submissions by the African Leadership Magazine, the motion for Prof. Abubakar to be honoured was moved by Rep. Myers and signed by both Speaker and clerk of the legislative body.

Professor Muhammad Bello Abubakar is a seasoned technocrat and the Managing Director/Chief Executive Office of Nigeria’s Galaxy Backbone Limited. Since he assumed office on January 2020, Professor Muhammad Bello Abubakar has distinguished himself as an ICT expert.

His innovativeness, pragmatism, transformational and exemplary leadership qualities, and mentorship, as well as his many insightful solutions, have positioned Galaxy Backbone Limited as one of the most impactful and value-driven government agencies in Nigeria, especially in ensuring that the organisation achieves the goal of Federal Government Digital Economy Policy in Nigeria.

Galaxy Backbone, under his leadership, has built a multi-platform ICT infrastructure connecting more than 400 Ministries, Departments and agencies into a “one government” network platform, and currently deploying terrestrial (Fibre) broadband connectivity to 36 states of the federation.

Professor Abubakar was ably represented by Hajiya Rabi Abubakar Deputy General Manager, Government Regulations And Stakeholder Management, Galaxy Backbone Limited, during the event in London.
