AFDB, International Air Transport Association Signed a MoU to Boost the Aviation Sector in Africa

· The International Air Transport Association (IATA) and African Development Bank (AFDB) signed a MoU for collaboration to boost the aviation sector in Africa.

· Both parties signed the memorandum of understanding for at the International Civil Aviation Organization World Aviation Forum in Abuja, Nigeria.

· The agreement involves both parties commitment towards aviation connectivity, safety and infrastructure improvement in Africa, achieved via the initiation of programmes and projects, including technical cooperation and capacity building.

According to African Development Bank president Akinwumi Adesina, he said, “Very few invest where it’s difficult to travel to. That’s why ease of access via air travel is strongly correlated to economic growth. We must make regional aviation markets competitive and drive down costs, raise efficiencies and improve connectivity and convenience”.
