The session featured an impressive lineup of speakers, including Dr. Ismail Badjie, CSM Amara Fofana, Mariama Suno, and Sankung Minteh.

Speaking during the session, Minteh described the initiative as a platform designed to inspire and empower young Africans to become responsible leaders capable of driving innovation and sustainable development within their communities.

“Youth leadership remains essential to the future of national development across Africa. Through initiatives like this, we are equipping young people with the mindset, confidence, and leadership skills needed to become active contributors to positive change,” he said.

According to the organisers, the programme was carefully structured to combine theoretical and practical learning experiences, providing participants with a balanced and impactful leadership development programme.

During the theoretical sessions, participants explored important leadership concepts such as innovative thinking, ethical responsibility, teamwork, and the role of youth in advancing sustainable development.

“These discussions provided a strong intellectual foundation and encouraged critical reflection on contemporary leadership challenges,” Minteh noted.

The practical segment of the programme gave participants the opportunity to apply their knowledge through interactive activities, group exercises, presentations, and scenario-based engagements.

“This hands-on approach not only reinforced learning but also enhanced participants’ confidence, problem-solving abilities, and collaboration skills,” the organisers stated.

The speakers further noted that the initiative aligns with the vision of the founder of African Youth Leadership, Dr Ken Giami to nurture young Africans for greater leadership responsibilities and continental transformation. The initiative, which is part of the African Leadership Organisation, operates through several leadership Youth hubs chapters across Africa, promoting youth empowerment, mentorship, innovation, and leadership development within communities across the continent.

Minteh further emphasised the long-term importance of investing in youth leadership development across Africa.

“Overall, the Leadership Session served as a platform for empowerment, inspiration, and capacity building, equipping young people with the tools and mindset necessary to drive positive change within their communities and beyond,” he stated.

Participants described the session as impactful and inspiring, highlighting the growing importance of leadership development initiatives for young people across Africa.
