Ethiopian Diaspora Pledge to Contribute to Development

Members of the Ethiopian community in Saudi Arabia have pledged to contribute their share to the sustainable development of their home country.

Ethiopian nationals and foreigners of Ethiopian origin from Riyad, Jeddah, Mecca, Medina, Jizan, Kamis Mushait, Taif and other parts of Saudi Arabia had discussion in Riyadh with Defense Minister Siraj Fegesa about the current situation in Ethiopia.

The minister briefed the Diaspora about the progress made in areas of peace, development and democracy as well as the state of emergency.

The Ethiopian Diaspora on their part raised issues that they believed the government has to address and the challenges they are facing at the places where they reside.

The defense minister, who told the Diaspora that the state of emerging is restoring the peace the country had long enjoyed, added that the government has yet to give quick response to demands raised by the people and focus on justice.

The Ethiopian Diaspora in Saudi Arabia has pledged to further contribute to the construction of Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) and other development programs.
